Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Algorithm / Control Engineer to join our surgical robotics team and help develop next-generation robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery. You will work closely with robotics engineers, software developers, mechanical engineers, and clinical experts to design and implement advanced control algorithms that enable precise, safe, and intelligent robotic motion in the operating room. This role is ideal for engineers passionate about robotics, control systems, real-time software, and medical technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Robotics Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Strong background in robotics and control theory
- Experience with: Robot kinematics and dynamics; PID, model-based, adaptive, or optimal control; Motion planning and trajectory generation; Real-time control systems; Proficiency in C++ and/or Python
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, MATLAB/Simulink, or robotic simulation tools
- Familiarity with sensors, actuators, encoders, and robotic hardware integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate control algorithms for surgical robotic systems
- Develop motion control, trajectory planning, kinematics, and dynamic modeling solutions
- Implement robot control software for real-time embedded or Linux-based systems
- Improve robot accuracy, stability, responsiveness, and safety performance
- Develop algorithms for force control, impedance/admittance control, and sensor fusion
- Integrate robotic control systems with imaging, navigation, and perception modules
- Conduct simulation, testing, calibration, and performance evaluation
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and clinical teams during system integration and verification
- Support regulatory documentation, risk analysis, and verification activities for medical devices
- Participate in prototype development, lab testing, and clinical evaluation support
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in surgical robotics, medical devices, or safety-critical systems
- Knowledge of force/torque sensing and haptic systems
- Experience with computer vision or image-guided robotics
- Familiarity with embedded systems and real-time operating systems
- Understanding of medical device development standards and regulatory processes
- Experience with machine learning or AI for robotic control
