Overview
The Director of Strategy and Quality Practices, Health and Wellness, leads the advancement of community-based services across the YMCA network by unifying strategies, aligning practices, and driving quality improvement. The role guides the adoption of leading practices, mobilizes systemwide activation support, and cultivates partnerships. A key focus of this position is strengthening local Ys in their operational excellence—ensuring they are equipped with consistent, high-quality approaches that support organizational health, sustainability, and long-term success. Operating as a strategic leader and facilitator of the network, this role informs innovation, accelerates shared outcomes, and enhances the overall vitality of the YMCA.
YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) embraces a remote-first working environment which means most employees work remotely from a home office within the continental United States.
Responsibilities
- Support and Enhance Organizational Priorities to Strengthen Local Ys: Advances organizational priorities by translating national direction into clear, actionable supports that strengthen local Y operational excellence and drive a healthier, more effective YMCA Movement.
- Unify and Align Network Strategies: Leads efforts to build shared goals, strengthen alignment, and enhance the credibility of Y-USA strategies across local Ys, alliances, and service delivery partners to ensure coordinated and consistent impact.
- Drive Collective Strategy: Develops and manages activation approaches that advance organizational priorities ensuring Ys and partners have the resources, guidance, and capacity to engage effectively.
- Lead Adoption and Integration of Membership Leading Practices: Engages the YMCA network to promote systemwide adoption of Y-USA Membership tools, products, and solutions; identifies bright spots; and provides programmatic support to Network Partners.
- Guide Continuous Quality Improvement and Innovation: Collects and analyzes Membership data, signals, and industry trends to inform continuous quality improvement strategies and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Strengthen Partnerships, Advocacy, and Policy Efforts: Collaborates with governmental, nonprofit, academic, and private partners to support national initiatives, increase influence, and advance mission aligned strategies.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will possess a majority of the following professional and personal attributes and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required in a relevant field such as Business, or related disciplines required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 8-12 years of experience required
- Expert functional skills, advanced industry knowledge and experience, advanced managerial skills
- Manages multiple teams or functions
- Strategic and operational decision-making authority
- Highly complex tasks and managerial tasks
- Minimal supervision

Posted Salary Range
USD $115,000.00 - USD $141,000.00 /Yr.
