Our customer is the European online car market with over 30 million monthly users, with a market presence in 18 countries. As a Senior Atlassian System Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online car markets and enhancing the user experience for millions of car buyers and sellers.
We are looking for a Senior Atlassian Systems Expert who can quickly assess, stabilize, improve, and document our Jira and Confluence setup while working closely with our internal Atlassian expert. Employee Tech is responsible for delivering a secure, scalable, and frictionless digital workplace experience for employees across Europe, Canada, and India. Within that landscape, Jira and Confluence play a central role in how teams plan work, manage service delivery, document decisions, and share knowledge across functions. In this role, you will work closely with our clients’ Atlassian expert to help design, administer, and continuously improve our Jira and Confluence environments. You will help shape platform standards for workflows, permissions, spaces, templates, reporting, and knowledge architecture while ensuring the platform remains reliable, usable, and aligned with business needs. A key part of the role will be helping our clients scale and govern the Atlassian ecosystem through smart configuration, automation, and integrations. This includes improving request workflows, permission models, and reporting, supporting enterprise administration practices, and partnering with teams to make Jira and Confluence easier to use at scale. Experience with automation, marketplace apps, APIs, SSO/SCIM-aware environments, and service management use cases is highly valuable.
Responsibilities:
- Own and operate our Atlassian platform end-to-end, with primary responsibility for Jira and Confluence administration, configuration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with our Atlassian expert to advise teams on best practices for workflows, project setup, spaces, permissions, and knowledge structure.
- Design, maintain, and improve Jira workflows, issue types, screens, fields, automations, dashboards, and reports to support business and operational processes.
- Administer Confluence spaces, templates, permissions, and content governance to enable effective knowledge management and collaboration.
- Manage and optimize roles, groups, and permission models across the Atlassian environment in partnership with security and platform stakeholders.
- Evaluate, configure, and support integrations and marketplace apps that extend Jira and Confluence capabilities while maintaining platform stability and governance.
- Drive automation and standardization to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and create consistent user experiences across teams.
- Troubleshoot complex platform issues and serve as an escalation point for configuration, permissions, automation, and adoption challenges.
- Support day-to-day operational tickets and user requests as needed during periods of high workload or increased support demand.
- Partner closely with Employee Tech, Security, PMO, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to balance governance, usability, and scalability.
- Create and maintain documentation, standards, and enablement materials to improve adoption and reduce key-person dependency.
Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience administering Jira and Confluence (4+ years) in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Practical experience with:
- Workflow, field, screen, and permission configuration in Jira
- Confluence spaces, permissions, templates, and content organization
- Automation rules, dashboards, filters, and reporting
- User, group, and access management in enterprise Atlassian environments
- Marketplace apps, integrations, APIs, or scripting for platform enhancement
- Strong understanding of platform governance, permissions strategy, and scalable administration practices.
- Experience partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate process needs into effective Jira and Confluence solutions.
- Comfort balancing standardization and flexibility in a growing, multi-team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to accelerate problem-solving, system design, and documentation while applying strong engineering judgment and security awareness.
- Comfort working in a global, distributed environment across time zones.
- Clear, pragmatic communication skills; you can explain platform concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Jira Service Management, Atlassian Access, SSO/SCIM, or cloud migrations is a strong plus.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a plus.
