The High Performance Computing group is seeking research scientists to join the group, focusing on AI-HPC systems, AI for Science, and computing system optimisation. The role offers opportunities to work on system-level software development, performance optimisation, and the integration of AI with scientific computing and simulation workflows on modern computing platforms.
The appointee will work on research areas such as optimising AI models and agents, modernising scientific modelling and simulation, AI-assisted system optimisation, application-HPC co-optimisation, and reusable software platforms for AI-HPC workloads. The appointee will collaborate closely with local and international research partners and is expected to contribute to high-impact research outcomes.
For the Research Scientist role, a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
We are looking for candidates with knowledge in one or more of the following:
1. High-performance computing, parallel or distributed systems
2. Performance optimisation, resource management, scheduling, or communication libraries (e.g., MPI/NCCL)
3. Programming in C/C++ and Python, and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch
4. Machine learning systems, large AI models, AI agents, and/or efficient AI
5. Scientific computing, numerical simulation, surrogate modelling, and/or AI for scientific applications
6. System software, workflow or platform development for large-scale computing
7. Demonstrated ability or strong potential to publish in top-tier international conferences and journals
8. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative research team
