We have a newly created Data Team that is capturing, analyzing, and modeling data to provide meaningful insights to our Members and our businesses. We’re looking for a top-performing Analytics Engineer Co-op to join this team, which serves as the backbone for all our business units! Reporting to the Lead Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor to high-impact projects, helping to translate complex data into actionable insights that solve both long-term and immediate business problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern BI tools and play a vital role in ensuring data integrity and trust across the organization. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, an eye for data visualization, and a background in engineering or analytics. You will get the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to learn different facets of the company while providing valuable support through data modeling and validation. Although headquartered in downtown Toronto, Ratehub is a remote-first company and we are open to remote candidates for this co-op term.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• BI Platform Migration: Play a key role in the transition from Looker to Power BI, recreating essential dashboards and ensuring reporting accuracy across platforms.
• Data Validation & QA: Perform data validation between Looker and Power BI to ensure that metrics, logic, and filters remain consistent and accurate.
• Automated Testing: Assist in developing and maintaining dbt tests (schema and data tests) to catch upstream data quality issues before they reach the reporting layer.
• Dashboard Support: Provide ad-hoc support for existing dashboards, troubleshooting data discrepancies and fulfilling custom visualization requests.
• Data Modeling & Optimization: Build clean, documented data models and optimize SQL queries to improve dashboard performance and reduce refresh times.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• High proficiency in SQL (comfortable with complex joins, window functions, and CTEs).
• Familiarity with Power BI, Looker, or BI tool.
• Basic understanding of data transformation and testing tools like dbt.
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks or automated testing logic for data pipelines.
