Job Summary
The Wintel Engineer provides expert support in planning, installing, and administering Workplace Management systems. This role includes managing workplace environments, OS deployment, and improving operational procedures for efficiency and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and maintain endpoint hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, drivers, upgrades, updates, and hotfixes to ensure optimal device performance
- Plan, implement, and support patch management and software distribution services to maintain system security and compliance
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available AWS or Azure infrastructure and cloud services to support business applications
- Deploy, configure, and manage AWS or Azure services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, Azure App Services, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Functions for cloud-native application support
- Collaborate with development teams to architect and deploy cloud-native applications that meet business requirements
- Implement and maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform to streamline cloud infrastructure management
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS or Azure infrastructure, applications, and connectivity to ensure service continuity
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for AWS or Azure resources to safeguard data and maintain availability
- Administer back-end infrastructure services with a focus on PC imaging to support endpoint management
- Support desktop and server escalations related to Workplace Management tools to resolve technical issues promptly
- Perform quality assurance testing for changes to endpoint devices to ensure reliability and compliance
- Contribute to streamlining daily operational processes through automation to improve efficiency
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and reports to support knowledge sharing and compliance
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned to support IT operations and business needs
Required competencies and certifications
- In-depth knowledge of AWS and Azure services and architecture to design and manage cloud infrastructure
- Proficient scripting skills in Python, Shell, or other relevant languages to automate tasks and support infrastructure management
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform to implement automation in cloud environments
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and security best practices in AWS and Azure to protect cloud resources
- Extensive experience with Windows Servers, Active Directory, PowerShell, Group Policy Objects, and Workplace Management Tools (e.g., HCL Big Fix, MS SCCM, Citrix VDI, Nexthink) to manage enterprise IT environments
- Experience with PC imaging deployment, patch management, and software distribution for desktop and server devices to maintain endpoint integrity
- Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively
- Ability to work independently and in heterogeneous IT environments to deliver reliable IT services
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or Information Systems as a foundation for technical expertise
- Experience with MSI technology, application packaging, deployment processes, and Windows Installer Technology for advanced software management
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git) to support development and deployment workflows
- MS Server Certification preferred to validate Windows Server expertise
- AWS and Azure certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, Azure Administrator, or Azure Solutions Architect are a plus to demonstrate cloud proficiency
- Strong analysis, design, and documentation skills to support IT project delivery and knowledge management
