Power BI Administrator for Server Migration

Duration: 4–6 weeks (short-term engagement)

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Administrator. The role involves assessing the current Power BI environment, planning and executing migration of gateway servers to a new data center, and ensuring the platform is upgraded and aligned with ongoing monthly updates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document the current Power BI environment, including:
• Workspaces, Teams, and end users
• Usage metrics
• Dependencies on Gateway servers
• Current Power BI version
• Develop a plan to upgrade Power BI to the latest version and define a strategy for ongoing monthly updates
• Design a migration plan for 2 Gateway servers to a new data center, ensuring minimal impact on the production environment (including potential reuse of legacy server names)
• Document server architecture, migration plan, and timelines
• Create a test and validation plan for the migration
• Execute migration and upgrade of the production environment
• Provide post-migration support and perform necessary adjustments
• Troubleshoot issues and ensure system stability and performance

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Power BI Administrator
• Hands-on experience with Power BI Service, Gateway configuration, and administration
• Experience with Power BI migrations and upgrades
• Strong understanding of Power BI architecture and dependencies
• Ability to plan and execute migrations with minimal downtime
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with data center or infrastructure migrations
• Familiarity with governance, security, and access management in Power BI
• Experience with performance monitoring and optimization
