This is a remote position.
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Wills, Estates & Family Law Paralegal to support lawyers and legal teams handling estate planning, probate, estate administration, and family law matters within the Australian legal framework.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing estate planning documentation, supporting probate processes, and assisting in family law matters such as divorce, property settlements, and parenting arrangements. You will play a key support role in liaising with clients, courts, and third parties while ensuring files are managed efficiently and in compliance with Australian legal requirements.
Prior experience working remotely or in an outsourced legal setting is highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting and formatting estate planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney, advance health directives, and trust templates, under the supervision of a lawyer.
- Prepare and file probate applications and related court documents across various Australian jurisdictions.
- Support lawyers in family law matters, including preparation of divorce applications, consent orders, financial statements, affidavits, and court documents.
- Liaise with clients to gather personal, financial, and asset information relevant to estate and family law matters.
- Maintain accurate client records and case management systems, ensuring deadlines, court dates, and compliance steps are tracked.
- Communicate with courts, financial institutions, superannuation funds, and government bodies to obtain required documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of briefs, disclosure documents, and property settlement materials in family law matters.
- Conduct basic legal and regulatory research related to succession and family law in Australia.
- Support lawyers in estate administration and ongoing family law matters in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal within Australian Wills & Estates and/or Family Law.
- Working knowledge of estate planning, probate, and trust processes under Australian law.
- Practical exposure to Australian family law procedures, including divorce applications and property settlements.
- Familiarity with legal practice management software (e.g., LEAP, Smokeball, or Actionstep).
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and document management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to professionally liaise with clients and third parties.
- Ability to work independently and reliably in a fully remote environment.
