High-Level OverviewProject:The client is seeking a Marketing Manager to support the build-out and execution of its marketing and communications capability in South Africa. The role is focused on translating group-level brand positioning and business priorities into locally relevant marketing activity that supports go-to-market and sales objectives, strengthens brand recognition, and enables consistent engagement with key stakeholders.
Operating within the Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs function, the Marketing Manager will work closely with senior leadership locally and coordinate with group counterparts internationally. The role sits at the centre of a small communications team and plays a key coordinating and directional role across marketing, social media, events, and external agencies. The position requires a hands-on, delivery-oriented approach and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced growth environment.

Key Deliverables:
Marketing Strategy and Planning
- Define priority audiences and commercial objectives for the South African market, aligned with go-to-market and sales priorities.
- Translate global brand positioning into locally relevant value propositions and narratives.
- Convert strategic priorities into focused marketing plans and campaigns.
- Establish and maintain a clear planning, measurement, and reporting cadence.
Brand Assets and Visual Execution
- Act as the custodian of the client’s brand in South Africa, ensuring alignment with global guidelines while adapting tone, visuals, and content for local relevance.
- Translate strategy into clear creative briefs for agencies, designers, and photographers.
- Oversee the development and management of core brand assets, including presentations, templates, imagery, and marketing collateral.
- Maintain a local library of marketing and communications assets.
- Guide and quality-control graphic and visual design work produced by external partners.
Content, Campaigns, and Team Coordination
- Provide day-to-day direction to the Social Media Manager, ensuring content planning, copy, cadence, and channel management align with approved strategy and messaging.
- Contribute to editorial calendars, campaign themes, and key messages across channels.
- Coordinate with the Events Manager to ensure consistent narratives and branding across external and internal events.
- Ensure alignment between campaigns, event presence, and broader communications objectives.
Agency Management and Reporting
- Manage relationships with external agencies and service providers, ensuring quality, consistency, and value for money.
- Coordinate with global counterparts to ensure alignment between global frameworks and local execution.
- Review and sign off on agency and partner deliverables.
- Develop and maintain regular marketing reporting and performance updates.
- Translate marketing activity and insights into clear updates for senior management and internal stakeholders.
- Support internal communications and alignment by ensuring marketing outputs reflect business priorities and organisational culture.
Requirements
Experience Required:
- Minimum 7 years' experience in marketing, communications, or brand management.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing marketing strategies in B2B, infrastructure, energy, or professional services environments.
- Experience working with external agencies, designers, and content specialists.
- Experience operating within multinational or matrixed organisations is strongly preferred.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong understanding of brand management, campaign development, and go-to-market execution.
- Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical, high-quality marketing outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with marketing data, reporting, and performance tracking.
- Working knowledge of graphic design and visual production processes, including the ability to review and provide feedback on layouts, imagery, and visual assets.
- Proficiency with standard productivity and presentation tools (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Google Slides, Google Sheets), and basic collaboration platforms used for planning and reporting.
Other Skills:
- Strong end-to-end ownership, with the ability to work independently and drive workstreams forward.
- High attention to detail and sound judgement, particularly in brand and reputational matters.
- Ability to coordinate and provide direction across multiple roles and stakeholders without formal line authority.

Working Arrangement
Location: South Africa
Travel: Travel may be required, subject to business needs.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Contracting Period: Rolling 3–4 month contract, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.
