We are part of the team responsible for building and maintaining an insurance pricing platform, which enables insurers to build and deploy advanced pricing models. Leveraging a modern technology stack, machine learning libraries and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), the platform ensures scalability, performance, and security - driving higher profitability for insurers and greater satisfaction for policyholders.
The Pricing and Rating platform is a strategic initiative of Guidewire, receiving significant focus and momentum, particularly from a recruitment and resources perspective.
You’d be joining a growing team of ~15 engineers divided into agile pods, working on a young product, on a fresh codebase, where lots of decisions still need to be made. Our teams take ownership of all aspects of the software development lifecycle for their solutions, including architecture, coding, quality assurance, infrastructure and deployment strategies. We cooperate with the product team on a daily basis and support sales and customers success teams to drive our product excellence. We value radical candor, curiosity and proactiveness.
This role is primarily remote, with flexible working hours. Occasional in-person meetings are required.
Tech Stack:
Backend: Python 3.13, FastAPI, Flask, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery
Frontend: React 19, TypeScript, Tanstack, MUI
Infrastructure: AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis
Research, develop and maintain modelling, insurance pricing algorithms, visualizations proprietary solutions
Fullstack development with TypeScript and Python
Analysing requirements, proposing solutions, spiking, building PoCs and production grade, well tested solutions and releasing them
Supporting, optimizing and maintaining our solutions to meet our SLOs
Cooperating with team members through PR reviews, RFCs/ADRs and agile ceremonies
Python development experience (minimum of 2 years)
Experience with some of the following: FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery
TypeScript development experience (minimum 1 year)
Experience with delivering production grade solutions and solving problems at scale
Strong foundation in algorithmics and data structures
A high sense of responsibility, good work ethic and a natural curiosity and openness to new ideas and tools
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in an English-speaking environment
You are ready to face challenges and solve complex technical problems.
You enjoy working with people and don't mind occasional face to face meetings with the team when needed
Experience using public cloud providers, preferably AWS
Experience in taking ownership of quality through test automation
Experience in building microservices exposing RESTful APIs in Python
Experience with Tanstack, react-hook-farm, vite
