We are seeking an experienced Director – Technology Strategy & Architecture to provide senior technology leadership and drive the development and implementation of the Company’s technology strategy, architecture and data capabilities.
The role will be responsible for designing and overseeing sophisticated, high-performance technology solutions, building scalable data infrastructure, and identifying opportunities to apply artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to improve business processes and technology capabilities.
The successful candidate will combine deep hands-on technical expertise with extensive senior leadership experience and the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable and commercially effective technology solutions. The role will work closely with senior management, technical teams, business stakeholders and external technology partners across multiple markets.
Technology Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the Company’s overall technology strategy and roadmap in alignment with business objectives and technology consultancy requirements.
Provide senior technical leadership and strategic advice on system architecture, technology infrastructure, data platforms and emerging technologies.
Assess existing technology environments, identify capability gaps and recommend appropriate architecture and technology solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to enhance business processes, operational efficiency and technology capabilities.
Establish technology architecture principles, engineering standards and development best practices across the organisation.
Advise senior management on technology investments, technical feasibility, scalability and implementation priorities.
System Architecture & Engineering
Lead the architecture, design and implementation of high-performance, scalable and low-latency technology systems.
Provide technical direction for complex software development, system integration and infrastructure projects.
Oversee system architecture to ensure solutions meet requirements for scalability, reliability, availability and performance.
Lead performance optimisation initiatives across applications, systems and technology infrastructure.
Provide senior-level technical expertise in C++ and Python, including architecture review, solution design and performance optimisation.
Establish appropriate engineering practices covering system design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing enhancement.
Data Infrastructure & Analytics
Lead the design and development of enterprise-level data infrastructure and data processing platforms.
Architect scalable pipelines for the ingestion, processing, transformation and analysis of large and complex datasets.
Develop frameworks that enable effective utilisation of structured, unstructured, alternative and proprietary data.
Establish scalable and reliable data architecture to support analytics, research, automation and business decision-making.
Improve data accessibility, quality, processing efficiency and scalability across technology platforms.
Work with technical and business teams to identify opportunities to derive greater value from organisational data assets.
Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies
Lead the identification, evaluation and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies across relevant business and technology functions.
Design and implement AI-enabled research, analytics, automation and data-processing workflows.
Apply machine learning and natural language processing techniques to complex data and business problems.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies, platforms and development frameworks and determine their suitability for enterprise applications.
Develop scalable frameworks for integrating AI capabilities into existing technology architecture and business processes.
Promote practical and commercially relevant adoption of emerging technologies across the organisation.
Technology Consultancy & Business Partnership
Work closely with senior management and business stakeholders to understand complex operational and technology requirements.
Translate business requirements into technology architecture, technical specifications, implementation roadmaps and scalable solutions.
Provide technology consultancy and subject-matter expertise on system architecture, software engineering, data infrastructure and AI applications.
Lead complex technology initiatives from requirements gathering and architecture design through development, implementation and optimisation.
Present technology strategies, recommendations and technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Balance technical considerations with commercial objectives, implementation timelines, operational requirements and long-term scalability.
Technology Governance, Risk & Security
Establish and maintain appropriate technology governance, data governance and cybersecurity frameworks.
Oversee technology risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are incorporated into system architecture and technology processes.
Ensure technology solutions comply with applicable information security, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Establish appropriate standards for system resilience, access controls, business continuity and technology risk management.
Identify potential technology and operational risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
Oversee relationships with external technology vendors, service providers and strategic technology partners.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
Provide leadership, technical direction and mentorship to technology professionals and project teams.
Build a collaborative, high-performance and data-driven technology culture.
Guide technical teams on architecture, engineering standards, problem-solving and technology implementation.
Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving technical teams, business stakeholders, management and external partners.
Manage multiple strategic technology initiatives and priorities in a fast-paced international environment.
Support the development of internal technology capabilities and succession of technical expertise within the organisation.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science or a closely related technical discipline. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate business qualification is highly advantageous.
Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience in technology development, system architecture, software engineering, data infrastructure or technology consultancy.
At least 5 years of senior technology leadership experience as CTO, Head of Technology, R&D Lead, Technology Director, Partner or an equivalent senior leadership position, with responsibility for technology strategy and implementation.
Strong hands-on technical expertise in C++ and Python, combined with extensive experience in software development, system architecture and performance optimisation.
Proven experience in the design and development of high-performance and low-latency systems, including the ability to architect scalable, reliable and performance-critical technology solutions.
Demonstrated track record of designing and building enterprise-level technology and data infrastructure from the ground up, including large-scale data ingestion, processing, analytics and automation pipelines.
Strong practical experience applying artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing to data analytics, research, automation or business applications, with the ability to identify and implement commercially relevant use cases.
Proven ability to bridge technology and business strategy, including translating complex business requirements into technology architecture, development roadmaps and scalable technical solutions, and advising senior stakeholders on technology strategy.
Experience leading technology initiatives across multiple Asian and international markets, together with knowledge of data governance, cybersecurity, technology risk management and external technology partnerships.
